Profile

f/8, 1/100, ISO-200, 50mm

I don’t know what this was at one time. When I first looked at it  I thought it was carved out of a tree or some other piece of wood. But it is stone. Fossilized, perhaps (I’m really lousy at this sort of thing). It is affixed to the ground with concrete, but it doesn’t appear to mark a grave. My best guess is that I’m looking at a head in profile. It was a very grey day out, as it has been for seemingly weeks (at least when I have the time to go out and shoot). So rather than force color into a grey image, I made it grey and pushed the contrast through the roof.

Very nice! I wonder what that was or is supposed to be?

I don’t suppose anyone knows anymore. I think I’ll return to this spot under other lighting conditions though and see what turns up. Don’t be surprised if you see variations on this guy in the future!
