Wood Swirl

Wood Swirl

f/1.8, 1/2000, ISO-200, 50mm

This is just a super close-up of a stump I wandered past, a sort of texture study I guess. The tree it belonged to had been blown over in our famous storm of July 11, and they’ve only recently started taking a chainsaw to the irreparably-damaged ones in the cemetery. I’m not sure what events transpired to leave the stump so “threaded” but it was visually interesting. I probably should have bumped this up to f/4 or 5 to get greater depth of focus. In fact, I should just generally avoid f/1.8 unless I know I have a really good reason for going there, but I’m learning….
