Blue Tree

Blue Tree

f/5.6, 1/250, ISO-400, 300mm

Early morning light and reflections off a blue pond can do funny things with the way a dead tree is lit. It almost looks like the after-effects of an ice storm. To accentuate that image, I oversharpened this photo a bit and brought out the blue just a smidge, but this is really close to the way the scene actually appeared. If I still had a tripod, I would have attempted a long exposure shot which would would have softened the water in a way that I think would have accentuated the general mood of the image, but alas that’s not possible at the moment. I have my eyes on a set of Oben legs and am saving my pennies, but it may be several months before other more pressing expenses clear the way for a purchase of a couple of hundred dollars.

At first glance I did think it was ice. Very nice.
