Steve’s Yard

Steve's Yard

f/5, 1/50, ISO-400, Exp bias -0.7 step, 50mm

This is something I took last summer in the back yard of a friend while waiting to take some shots of actors for a play poster. There is such lovely detail in even the smallest flower, something it took other photographers to show me before I understood that simple point. I finally understand, though, how photographing flowers can be so consuming. As humans we struggle so hard to create beauty in photographs, paintings, sculpture, music, and dozens of other art forms. Just looking closely at the things around us are a gentle reminder that what we strain to accomplish is built in to the world around us, and is produced every moment of every day if we only stop to experience it.
