One of the first true “photo walks” I ever took was to Backbone Park, otherwise known as The Devil’s Backbone because of the highy, sharp, rocky ridge that runs through the park. This was perhaps one of the less spectacular photos I took of a generally unremarkable day. I didn’t yet know a lot about composition and shooting landscapes in general. I hadn’t even learned not to try this sort of shot except in early morning or early evening (this was taken at 10 AM in July).
There’s still not much of a photograph here, but I think it works better in black and white. I pushed up the Clarity slider on this quite a bit while also throwing down the contrast in the foreground.
