Flood Of Fire

Flood Of Fire

f/22, 2.5″, ISO-400, 50mm

I caught this surreal-looking sight on my way home last night about 20 minutes after sunset. It was late and I was tired, and I nearly passed this opportunity up in favor of getting home to bed. But good sense got the better of me and I pulled off the road to set up the tripod for a lengthy exposure that maximized the color and depth of field. As it was I still missed the moment when this scene was at its most spectacular, but with some careful post-processing I was able to nudge things mostly back to where it looked best. It’s amazing how a scene like this comes and goes within seconds.

To think I almost passed it up!
