Tiger Lily

Tiger Lily

f/5.6, 1/400, ISO-200, 50mm

On July 4 I went out to Coralville Reservoir to see if I could find anything worthwhile on a beautiful day. I made the trip about 2 in the afternoon, far from the ideal time to do landscapes, but it was the time I had. Along one of the back trails through the place there was a huge field of these tiger lilies and the trees made for some interesting light and shadow. In general the shadow was much harsher than I like to deal with, especially for flowers, but I found one that was in just the right place to provide some soft foreground and brilliant background.

Thank you! I’m told now it’s also actually a day lily 😉
